Four Path of Exile 2 builds that all explicitly say "doesn't require any Uniques to function" and scale into the endgame with a few divines of gear. Updated for the Return of the Ancients 0.5.2 patch.
Spellcasting Ranger that throws Cold-Infused Sparks and rains Fire-Infused Comets. Amazing clear, mobility, and single target. Cast-while-moving and slow-immune.
Stacks wind vortexes 3x with Whirling Slash, consumes them with Twister. Cold-imbued with Ice-Tipped Arrows. Whole-screen freezes, great mobility, scales with rares.
Power-charge-stacking quarterstaff. Herald of Thunder/Ice + Charged Staff → combo points → Whirling Assault. Hits like a truck, near-100% crit, curse immune.
Summon Skeletal Snipers, Wolf Pack, and Unearth corpse explosions. The classic "your army kills things" playstyle. Safest of the four, most forgiving of bad gear.
| Build | Class | Playstyle | Strength | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cold Spark Pathfinder | Ranger (Dex) | Caster, mobile, screen-wide | Smoothest campaign; best streamer pick of 0.5.2 | Glass-cannon before CI swap |
| Twister Deadeye | Ranger (Dex) | Spear melee into spell burst | Most fun if you like screen-wide freezes | Squishy early; vulnerable during boss cooldowns |
| Falling Thunder Monk | Monk (Str/Dex) | Power-charge quarterstaff | Strongest raw damage per div once online | Campaign is more button-press-heavy |
| Skeletal Sniper Shaman | Druid (Minion) | Summon & buff minions | AFK-friendly; cheapest to feel safe | Damage slightly behind top picks |
Cold Spark Pathfinder. It's the most-updated, most-streamer-endorsed league-start of this patch, plays smoothly from level 1, and the unique upgrades (Call of the Brotherhood, Maligaro's Virtuosity) are dirt cheap. Falling Thunder is the strongest raw damage per div once it's online but the campaign is more button-press-heavy. Twister Deadeye is the most fun if you like screen-wide clears.
Build info is pulled from Maxroll's 0.5.1/0.5.2 build guides (Return of the Ancients league, ~2 weeks in as of writing). Gear costs are 2-week-into-league estimates, not live trade checks. If anything looks off, the actual guide linked in each build page is the source of truth.
